Alex Haley Museum and Interpretive Center is at 535 Haley Ave. The former home of novelist Alex Haley is open to the public as a museum featuring Haley's work, childhood memorabilia and references to the people who inspired his characters in &#8220;Roots.&#8221; From 1921 to 1929, and for many summers afterward, Haley lived here with his grandparents; he is buried in the front yard of the home.</br>The interpretive center focuses on the Pulitzer Prize-winning author's life and career.</br></br>

Hours: Tues.-Sat. 10-5. Last admission 1 hour before closing. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Allow 1 hour minimum.
