This is the home of John Luther “Casey” Jones, a 19th-century railroad engineer whose heroic actions during a train wreck were memorialized in “The Ballad of Casey Jones.” The home, where Jones lived with his wife and three children, is decorated with period furniture and china.

A replica of his engine, “Old 382,” is in the museum, which also displays assorted railroad memorabilia, including a baggage car and caboose. The Train Station addition re-creates an 1890s-era train station. Displays in the Jackson Room focus on the town's rich railroad history. A 9-minute video portrays Jones' story. Self-guiding tours are available.

Time: Allow 1 hour, 15 minutes minimum.
