Knoxville Zoo is 2.5 mi. e. off I-40 exit 392 (Knoxville Zoo Dr./Rutledge Pike), following signs to 3500 Knoxville Zoo Dr. The 53-acre zoo houses more than 800 animals, many in natural habitats. Special exhibits include The Pridelands, Cheetah Savannah, Gorilla Valley, The Williams Family Giraffe Encounter, The Boyd Family Red Panda Village, Grasslands Africa, Black Bear Falls, Chimp Ridge, Meerkat Lookout, Penguin Rock and Birds of Central America. Activities for children include the Clayton Family Kids Cove, Nature Play, WeePlay Adventure and interactive animal exhibits.
The zoo also features camel rides, a carousel, an animal show, an elephant preserve and a reptile exhibit. Rental strollers are available.
