Cumberland Caverns is 6 mi. s.e. off SR 8 at 1437 Cumberland Caverns Rd. The caverns feature one of the largest cave rooms in the eastern United States. Visitors also see waterfalls, pools, a ¾-ton chandelier, a historic saltpeter mine and unusual rock formations. The scenic walking tour includes the underground light-and-sound presentation “God of the Mountain.” A monthly bluegrass show is broadcast from the Volcano Chamber.
