Slave Haven Underground Railroad Museum, 826 N. Second St., preserves the 1856 home of Jacob Burkle, a German immigrant who provided refuge to runaway slaves. Visitors tour his seven-room house, which served as a way station on the Underground Railroad. A hidden cellar and trap doors reveal the slaves' escape route. Guided tours are available.
$10; $9 (ages 65+); $8 (ages 4-17).
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 10-5, June-Aug.; Mon.-Sat. 10-4, rest of year. Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas.
