The Children's Museum of Memphis is at the Katherine and John Dobbs Family Center next to the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium and Fairgrounds at 2525 Central Ave. The 33,500-square-foot museum offers children the chance to explore and discover a cityscape with hands-on exhibits like FedEx Airplane, Giant Light Bright, a LEGO racetrack and more. Tykes can climb inside an indoor tree house, virtually drive a fire engine or sheriff's car, shop for groceries or dance in a disco. PlaySpace is an outdoor educational playground with ziplines. Also on the grounds is Splash Park water park and the Memphis Grand Carousel, a restored 1909 Dentzel carousel.
Museum and playground $15; free (ages 0-1). Combination museum, water park and playground admission $20; free (ages 0-1). Carousel ride $3; children under 48 inches tall must be accompanied by an adult.
Hours: Museum, playground and carousel daily 9-5. Water park daily 10-5, Memorial Day-Labor Day (weather permitting). Closed Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Allow 2 hours minimum.
