Oaklands Historic House Museum is at 900 N. Maney Ave. Home of the Maney family from about 1815-84, Oaklands evolved from a two-room brick cabin to the stately Italianate mansion visitors see today. During the Civil War, on July 13, 1862, Confederate cavalrymen under Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest defeated Union forces encamped on the grounds of the plantation.
