Belle Meade Plantation is 8 mi. s.w. of Nashville on US 70S at 5025 Harding Pike. Guides in period costumes conduct tours of an 1853 Greek Revival mansion noted for its cantilevered staircase, 14-foot ceilings and classic proportions. It originally was the centerpiece of a 5,400-acre working plantation and American Thoroughbred horse farm.

The site also includes the Belle Meade Winery, an 1890 carriage house displaying antique carriages, a 1790 log cabin, an 1820 smokehouse, an 1840 mausoleum and an 1884 creamery. A guided grounds tour aboard a two-wheeled Segway transportation device (includes training session) also is available.

Guided tours are available. Food is available.

$24; $20 (ages 65+); $13 (ages 13-18); $10 (ages 6-12); $65 (family, two adults and up to four children ages 6-18). A free wine-tasting opportunity at the winery is available with adult (ages 21+) admission. Grounds only $15. Segway tour $50.
Guided tours daily 9-5. Last tour begins 1 hour before closing. Closed Jan. 1, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas. Allow 1 hour minimum.
