Belmont Mansion

Belmont Mansion is on the Belmont University campus at Belmont Blvd. & Acklen Ave. The ornate Italianate villa was built in the 1850s as a summer home for Adelicia Acklen, one of the country's wealthiest women of the mid-19th century. Exterior features include elaborate cast-iron balconies and an octagonal cupola. Guided 1-hour tours visit such spacious rooms as an arched-ceiling ballroom. The grand staircase, marble mantels, period furnishings and artwork are notable. A rose garden and statuary are on the grounds.
