The Parthenon is the centerpiece of Centennial Park at West End and 25th aves. This is a full-size replica of the Parthenon on the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. The only such replica in the world, the Nashville Parthenon was built for the Tennessee Centennial Exposition of 1897 and today houses the city's permanent art collection. Inside its stately white columns is a 42-foot-high gold statue of Athena, the goddess of wisdom. Docents are available to answer questions. Guided tours are available by appointment (requires a minimum of 10 people). Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
Art gallery $6; $4 (ages 4-17 and 62+). Grounds free.
Hours: Art gallery Tues.-Sat. 9-4:30, Sun. 12:30-4:30. Grounds daily dawn-11 p.m. Phone ahead to confirm schedule and holiday hours. Closed major holidays.
