Children's Museum of Oak Ridge

Children's Museum of Oak Ridge, 461 W. Outer Dr., offers hands-on exhibits focusing on art, history and science. Children can explore a life-size, two-story dollhouse, while a simulated rain forest features an observation deck, a waterfall and murals. Three reconstructed Appalachian log cabins, a caboose, an environmental center and gardens also are on-site. Other galleries highlight model trains, puppets, early Oak Ridge history, the Tennessee River lock system, a tugboat and international cultures. Living Light, a zero-energy solar-powered house, is available for tours on a limited basis.
