Tennessee River Museum is at 495 Main St. Exhibits chronicle prehistoric times, the life of the Mississippian mound builders, the Trail of Tears, the Civil War on the river, the age of steamboats and the Tennessee River today. Items on display include fossils; the Pre-Columbian Shiloh Effigy Pipe; Civil War field artillery, firearms, plates and edged weapons of both armies; objects from the sunken riverboat City of Florence; and a section of a mussel boat. A self-guiding tour is available.
