Amarillo Botanical Gardens is off I-40 exit 65 (Coulter St.) at 1400 Streit Dr. Four acres include such themed gardens as a butterfly, fragrance and Japanese garden. A tropical conservatory features a waterfall, tropical plantings and seasonal displays. Blooming season is mid-May to late October. Special exhibits and events are offered seasonally. Music in the Gardens allows visitors to sit back and enjoy live music on Thursday evenings early June to early August; gates open at 6:30 p.m. Guided tours are available. Pet friendly (call for restrictions/fees.).
$5; $4 (ages 60+); $2 (grades K-8th); free (ages 0-5). Guided tour additional $2. Reservations are required for guided tours.
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 9-5 (also Tues. 5-8 p.m.), Sun. 1-5, May-Oct.; Tues.-Fri. 9-5, Sat. 1-5, rest of year. Closed major holidays. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
