The elegant rooms make a nice retreat and create interest and appeal through the décor. After a restful night's sleep, the vanity area makes a great spot to relax as you prepare for the day. This landmark hotel, named after cattle baron Colonel Jesse Driskill, has been a grand dame of Austin hotels since it was built in 1886. Historic artwork and artifacts are displayed throughout. Pros: Charm. Historic significance. Located close to the Austin nightlife.
Cons: Restaurant (grill) was a little disappointing, too salty, and overpriced.

Pros: Love the location of this beautiful historic hotel. The bar downstairs is amazing.
Cons: The room just feels a little outdated... some may feel like that's what you're paying for though. I like my hotels a bit more modern.
