Historic Brownsville Museum is off SR 77/83 at the Boca Chica exit, then e. to 641 E. Madison St. Housed in a 1928 train depot, the museum offers interpretive exhibits from Brownsville's past, including the area's earliest military fort and the arrival of French teaching nuns. Agricultural and ranching tools, artifacts and pictures from the battles of the Mexican War and a restored Baldwin wood-burning, narrow-gauge railroad locomotive are included.
