Staff was very friendly. The Hotel Employee in the front desk was very accommodating.
Pros: The location was good.
Cons: No breakfast. They wouldn't do housekeeping daily unless you paid.

Pros: The hotel was very nice . Room was excellent . A bigger bed would have been nice. The pool area was wonderful and the pool. The one thing I did not apppreciate was patrons having a cook out drinking ( too much ) using foul mouth with my daughter in the water .

Charged credit card w/o authorization
Pros: The pool. Heated to a steady 90 degrees with lighting that made it look like an inviting lagoon. Too bad I was there for a conference and didn't have time to splash around.
Cons: The hotel staff charged my credit card prior to my arrival time even though I did not check in past their no-show time and I had called earlier in the day to confirm the reservation and inform them of my check-in time. When I asked the front desk staff, she said that my credit card had been charged "some time a few hours ago" and that they "always charged the credit card for booking.com reservations prior to people checking in". I was rather flummoxed because this is not mentioned anywhere in their policies. As we all know, pre-authorization charges are a given and expected, but out-right charging my card without my knowledge or authorization prior to my even checking in when I'm not in violation of their polices is wrong and unethical. After about 30 minutes of my discussing this issue with the front desk girl and a call to the manager, they canceled the charge and I was able to successfully pay with my business card upon checkout. The attitude of the girl at the front desk was disgusting and the antithesis of hospitable. I called booking.com the Monday after my stay to discuss what had happened. They agreed that the hotel's behavior was bizarre and confirmed that them charging cards prior to arrival was nowhere in their policies. They sent an email to the hotel regarding this matter. Here is the copy of the email they sent:Dear Candlewood Suites Corpus Christi South/Naval Base,Thank you for working with Booking.com.Hello,My name is Aaron and I am contacting you on behalf of our mutual guest. The guest advises us that when she arrived at the property to check in she was advised that the reservation had already been charged. While this may seem like a good thing the guest was rather concerned as she reserved the reservation with one card and was going to pay with another (she has rather strict rules for her business travel) After a rather lengthy conversation with the front desk the issue was resolved.
