Dallas Museum of Art is at 1717 N. Harwood St. Displays range from pre-Columbian and African artifacts to Impressionist and contemporary works. The permanent collection boasts strong holdings in the arts of the ancient Americas, Africa and South Asia and in European and American painting, sculpture and decorative arts, such as Asian bronze works, masks from the Pacific, African Congo sculpture, Colonial decorative arts and works by contemporary artists.

Galleries include works by Henri Matisse, Claude Monet and John Singer Sargent, sculpture by Henry Moore and Auguste Rodin and paintings by Georgia O'Keeffe and Jackson Pollock. Traveling displays, smartphone tours and thematic guided tours are offered. Modern sculpture and fountains adorn the grounds.

Guided tours are available. Food is available.

Admission
Free general admission (includes entrance to the museum's galleries and most exhibitions). Some special exhibitions require a ticket of $16; $14 (ages 65+ and military with ID); $12 (students with ID); free (ages 0-11). $15 (third Thurs. 5-9 and third Fri. 5-midnight). Phone ahead to verify when tickets are required.

Tues.-Sun. 11-5 (also Thurs. 5-9 and third Fri. of the month 5-midnight). Closed Jan. 1, July 4, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Allow 2 hours minimum.
