1st Cavalry Division Museum is at Fort Hood in Bldg. 2218 on 761st Tank Battalion and 56th St. The museum traces the history of the Cav trooper from the 1850s through activation of the Division in 1921 and onto the Division's involvement in World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam War, Bosnia, Operation Desert Storm and the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Highlights include uniforms, weapons, aircraft and more than 125 vehicles. At Division Headquarters, visitors can view a memorial to the fallen soldiers of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Note: Visitors must enter at the main gate and through the Visitor Center and show photo ID, proof of insurance and vehicle registration.
