Historic Fort Stockton is at 300 E. 3rd St. This frontier military post, active 1859-86, consisted of 35 adobe and limestone buildings. Three of the original eight officers' quarters, guard house and two reconstructed barracks with kitchens remain. Restored, they are now a small museum. A cemetery also is near the grounds.

Self-guiding tours are available.

$3; $2.50 (ages 65+); $2 (ages 6-12); free (ages 0-5 and veterans with ID).
Mon.-Sat. 9-6, June-Aug.; Mon.-Sat. 9-5, rest of year. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Allow 30 minutes minimum.
