Bishop's Palace is at 1402 Broadway. Designed for a local attorney in 1887, the three-story residence took 7 years to build. The exterior is sandstone, limestone and rough granite. The interior, furnished in period, features a hand-carved staircase, jeweled glass windows and a mantel that won first prize at the 1876 World Fair. The Catholic Diocese purchased the house to be the seat of the local bishop in 1923. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
$12; $7 (ages 6-18). Basement-to-Attic Tour $30.
Hours: Self-guiding audio tours available daily 11-5. Last admission 45 minutes before closing. Guided 1-hour tours depart daily at 1:30. Basement-to-Attic Tours depart monthly; phone ahead for schedule. Closed Jan. 1, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.
