Museum of the Southwest is 1 blk. s. of US Bus. Rte. 80 at 1705 W. Missouri Ave. The Juliette and Fred Turner, Jr. Memorial Art Museum houses art and archeological artifacts in a 1934 mansion designed by Anton F. Korn. The permanent collection includes works by founding members of the Taos Society of Artists, as well as graphics and sculpture. The museum also features traveling exhibitions and the Fredda Turner Durham Children's Museum, with hands-on exhibits. A sculpture garden is on the grounds. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.

Hours: Tues.-Sat. 10-5, Sun. 2-5. Closed major holidays.
