Cons: [Warning - long post]First problem: The front desk had the reservations wrong. I made online reservations for three separate rooms through Booking.com. This was a business trip. I flew to Midland-Odessa and I had consulting engineers from Los Angeles and Phoenix scheduled to fly in and attend an inspection the next morning). I arrived at the hotel in the afternoon to get the room keys. At the reception desk, I learned that they only had two reservations on file. They did not have the third reservation. I told them that there must be a mistake, as my American Express card had already been charged for all three rooms - I showed them the charges on my phone. The front desk staff said they were sorry, but they could not help me - I needed to resolve the problem with Booking.com. So, I had to pay for a fourth room directly through Hilton so that I could stay there as planned. All of this happened between 4:30-5:30 p.m. I did not go up to my room at that time. Rather, I returned to the airport to pick up the others in my party and go to dinner. Second problem: I arrived back at the hotel after 9 p.m. and went to my room for the first time. The previous guest had smoked in the room. When I called the front desk, they could not move me to another room because no more rooms were available. They acknowledged that the previous guest had smoked in the room and that they had fined him (as if that was supposed to resolve the problem). They did bring air freshener and a new set of towels to the room. In any event, I finally gave up trying to fall asleep in the room and ended up getting up at 3:30 a.m., showering and sitting in the lobby until the restaurant opened at 6 a.m. for breakfast. The morning staff was courteous and apologetic about the situation and at my request told me they would comp the room (but I have not seen the credit come through on my credit card yet).
