AAA Editor Notes
Fort Leaton State Historic Site is 3 mi. e. on FM 170. Former bounty hunter Benjamin Leaton established the border trading post in 1848. Twenty-five of the 47 rooms around the patio of the adobe fortress have been restored. Exhibits depict the area's Native American, Spanish, Mexican and American pioneer cultures.

Picnicking is permitted.
