Fort Sam Houston is off I-35 at the Walters St. exit at 1405 N. Quadrangel Loop, bldg. 16. Founded in 1845, the complex is an active Army installation and home for several major Army groups. A museum chronicles the history of the fort from 1845 to the present. Maps are available.
Note: Visitors may enter through the Walters Street gate or from a gate on Harry Wurzbach Road and must have a photo ID, proof of insurance and vehicle registration.
