La Villita is on the banks of the San Antonio River between E. Nueva and S. Alamo sts. La Villita (vee-YEE-tah) is a restoration of San Antonio's earliest residential settlement. Today La Villita is a thriving arts community that stands as a monument to San Antonio's past. A historic arts village since 1939, the galleries and shops occupying historical buildings offer unique art—oil paintings, sculptures, watercolors, metal art, rock art, textiles, copper wares, pottery, jewelry, stained glass and regional folk art—by local and regional artists.
Self-guiding tour maps documenting the historical structures are available throughout the village.
