Witte Museum, 3801 Broadway St. in Brackenridge Park, focuses on science, natural history and South Texas heritage. Numerous galleries explore the story of Texas through art and diverse collections. Visitors can view extinct reptiles from 110 million years ago in the Naylor Family Dinosaur Gallery as well as a display about the ancient seas that once covered much of Texas. The H-E-B Body Adventure helps increase health knowledge through four floors of interactive adventures. The South Texas Heritage Center is home to the museum’s vast collection of artifacts and exhibits focusing on area history. Eight ecosystems of the state and their flora and fauna are presented in the Texas Wild Gallery, while the Pecos Gallery provides a glimpse into the life of the prehistoric hunter-gatherers of Texas. Theater performances also are offered.
