Disappointing trip, this time.
Pros: I LOVE the mattress, box spring and bedding. I love the shower head, the towels are awesome, and the lighting in the bathroom is awesome. There's plenty of storage, too. A super nice touch are the charging stations attached to the bed table...very convenient!
Cons: Unfortunately (I've stayed at Laquinta 99.9% of the time I'm in Sherman and this is the second time I've had an issue with this), the property needs to decide whether or not it's a smoking facility. My mom made her own reservation, asked if this was a smoking property, was told yes; booked a smoking room (confirmed via e-mail); but when we arrived we were told that the entire property had gone no-smoking last year. Well, my husband and I stayed there in August 17, my mom and I in October 17, and had smoking rooms both times. It was the main reason we book at LaQuinta, as my husband and my mother smoke (I do not). If we had known it was a non-smoking facility, we would have booked another hotel. (Well, she would have.)
Second, we stayed on the first floor. I don't know if that has anything to do with the issues we experienced as, due to the smoking issue, we've always stayed on the fourth, but....my mom had to get new key cards as neither one of hers would work. Mine did work, but only after repeated attempts to open the door. It was so bad that if we left the room for a minute, we just kept the door propped open.
Third, the a/c in my room 111 was horrible. I couldn't get it lower than 70.
Fourth, while I love the shower head, the water pressure was low. It took me a while to rinse the soap off my body, and I know if I had washed my hair, it would have taken me twice that to get the shampoo out.
And lastly, the TV channel selection was horrible. I know everyone (besides me) was disappointed that a conflict with DISH network kept us from watching the Olympics. My mom especially was upset..on top of everything else (the smoking, her keys) she missed the short track races because LA QUINTA had a clash with DISH. I myself missed Nickelodeon, but as I'm not a tv person anyway I really didn't care.
