Caldwell Zoo is 1 blk. e. of US 69 at 2203 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Comprising 85 acres, the zoo provides natural habitats for more than 3,400 animals from North and South America and Africa, including lions, rhinoceroses, elephants, giraffes, otters, flamingos, and a collection of ducks from around the world. Other highlights include a native Texas exhibit and two aquariums featuring fish and penguins. A separate facility houses snakes and spiders. Tropical foliage, ponds and wooden walkways enhance the setting.
