Star of the Republic Museum is off FM 1155 at 23200 Park Rd. 12 within Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site. The story of Texas' struggle for independence from Mexico is told in exhibits that include army uniforms and weaponry as well as artifacts from the Republic of Texas. A Lone Star flag, thought to be the oldest in existence, is displayed. A 20-minute film describes the founding of the republic. The Pioneer Playroom is a multisensory area that offers hands-on displays exploring Texas history.
$5; $3 (students with ID); free (ages 0-6); $15 (family, two adults and up to five children). Combination ticket with Independence Hall and Barrington Living History Farm $9; $6 (ages 7-18 and students with ID); $27 (family, two adults and up to five children).
Hours: Daily 10-5. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve-Dec. 31. Allow 2 hours minimum.
