Wharton County Historical Museum

Wharton County Historical Museum is at 3615 N. Richmond Rd. (SR 60). The museum displays wildlife trophies as well as county artifacts and photographs dealing with ranching, agriculture, archeology, medicine, local sulfur mines and Wharton County's Congressional Medal of Honor recipients Roy Benavidez and Johnnie Hutchins. An extensive collection of everyday items introduced in the 1900s—including typewriters, computers, radios, kitchen appliances and arcade games—also is featured.

On the grounds is the original home of Dan Rather, TV news anchor.
