Xochitécatl is about a 2 km (1.2 mi.) walk from Cacaxtla on the other side of a small valley. It was not uncovered until 1994. The large, open-air site consists of three pyramids and the base of a fourth. The Pirámide de la Espiral, named for its circular shape, is thought to have been used for astronomical explorations or built in dedication to Ehecatl, the god of wind. The Pyramid of the Flowers (Pirámide de las Flores), also constructed of rounded stones, has an exceptionally wide base.
