Queen's Park Savannah is in the center of the fashionable residential district. The park covers nearly 200 grassland acres (81 hectares). The Stollmeyer House in the eastern section was built in 1904 as a copy of a wing of Balmoral Castle in Scotland; it is one of seven excellent examples of Grand Colonial Architecture that surrounds the park. Cricket, football and rugby events are held here. The Emperor Valley Zoo and the Royal Botanic Gardens , laid out in 1820, face the northern side of the park; Memorial Square and the National Museum are on the park's east side.
