Utah Shakespeare Festival, held on the Southern Utah University campus off I-15, presents three Shakespearean plays and works by other playwrights in rotation at several venues: the outdoor Engelstad Shakespeare Theatre, the Eileen and Allen Anes Studio Theatre at the Beverley Taylor Sorenson Center for the Arts and the Randall L. Jones Theater. Evening performances are preceded by a complimentary Greenshow featuring Elizabethan music, dance of Merrie Olde England, juggling, magic or storytelling. Works from The New American Playwrights Project are performed in August in the Auditorium Theatre. Day-care services are available on the festival grounds.
Tickets $20-$73 plus $4 facilities fee per ticket for some performances. Limited gallery seats $17-$21 (available in person after 10 a.m. on day of performance). New American Playwrights Project $10. Backstage tour $8. Under 6 are not permitted at performances. Reservations are recommended.
Hours: Season runs June 27-Oct. 22. Matinee and evening performances daily through early Sept., then check schedule. Backstage tours offered some mornings.
