Loveland Living Planet Aquarium is at 12033 S. Lone Peak Pkwy. The Discover Utah gallery exhibits freshwater aquatic species, amphibians and mammals indigenous to the state. The North American River Otter exhibit showcases these lively animals in indoor and outdoor environments. The marine species in the Ocean Explorer gallery include octopuses, stingrays and seahorses. There are also interactive exhibits and a 300,000-gallon shark tank with a 40-foot walk-through tunnel. The Journey to South America gallery spotlights animals indigenous to the Amazon basin, including free-flight tropical birds, caimans, anacondas and electric eels. Gentoo penguins are among the residents at the Antarctic Adventure gallery. Expedition: Asia, the newest exhibit, features clouded leopards, tortoises, small-clawed otters, Oriental pied hornbills and the arowana, a freshwater fish also known as the Chinese dragon fish for its colorful, metallic-looking scales. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
