Little Sahara Recreation Area, 27020 Sand Mountain Rd., is a 60,000-acre tract of shifting dunes, juniper-dotted hills and sagebrush flats inhabited by a wide range of indigenous wildlife. Off-road vehicles traverse 124 square miles of dune fields, created when strong winds transported sand from the Sevier Desert.
Sand Mountain, a challenging, nearly 700-foot wall of sand, is Little Sahara's focal point. The White Sand Dunes offer numerous bowls that attract riders of all abilities. The Black Mountain has a network of dirt trails. The White Sands Campground and the Jericho Picnic Area have fenced sand play areas. The Rockwell Outstanding Natural Area is a 9,000-acre unit reserved for non-vehicle use.
