Visitor Center, 4 mi. s.e. of US 163 near the Arizona/Utah border, offers an impressive panorama of the Mitten and Merrick buttes; exhibits about Native Americans; an auditorium; an outdoor amphitheater; a patio; a library; and a Navajo hogan, the traditional housing structure of the Navajo people.
Departing from the center are various guided tours led by Navajo tour operators, who take visitors down into the valley and backcountry.
Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours, 30 minutes minimum.
