Antelope Island State Park, within the Great Salt Lake 9.8 mi. w. of Syracuse via West 1700 South and the 7-mi.-long Davis County Cswy., has sand beaches; trails for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking and cross-country skiing; and a marina. A herd of more than 500 bison as well as mule deer, pronghorn antelopes, bighorn sheep, coyotes and waterfowl are full-time residents. The Fielding Garr Ranch, Utah's oldest, also can be toured, and the visitor center has a video and information about the island's geology, biology and history. Kayaking, bird-watching, and horseback and wagon rides are available. Pets on leash are allowed. Recreational activities are permitted. Camping is permitted. Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
$10 (per private vehicle); $5 (ages 62+ per private vehicle): $3 (per person arriving by other means). Camping $15-$30.
Hours: Park open daily 6 a.m.-10 p.m. Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas.
