Antelope Island State Park is within Great Salt Lake, 9.8 mi. w. of Syracuse via West 1700 South and the 7-mile-long Davis County Cswy. It has sand beaches; trails for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking and cross-country skiing; and a marina. A herd of more than 500 bison as well as mule deer, pronghorn antelopes, bighorn sheep, coyotes and waterfowl are full-time residents.
The Fielding Garr Ranch, Utah's oldest, also can be toured, and the visitor center has a video and information about the island's geology, biology and history. Kayaking and bird-watching are popular activities, and horseback and wagon rides are available.
