National Museum of the United States Navy is in building 76 at the Washington Navy Yard, jct. 11th and O sts. S.E. It presents the past and present history of the U.S. Navy. Exhibits depict important battles and early naval heroes as well as trace developments in weapons and technology.

Highlights include interactive World War II anti-aircraft gun mounts, ship models, an American Revolution gun deck section, a fully rigged foremast fighting top from the frigate USS Constitution and a submarine room with operating periscopes. Outdoor parks display guns and cannons.

Note: To enter the Washington Navy Yard, visitors must present a Department of Defense Common Access Card, a military or military dependent ID, or be accompanied by an escort with one of these credentials. Ages 18+ must have a valid photo ID. Museum staff may be able to escort visitors Mon.-Fri. only. The base security protocol is subject to change without notice. Vehicle registration and proof of insurance or rental agreement are required to drive onto the base; parking is limited Mon.-Fri. Food is available on weekdays.

Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
