AAA Editor Notes
Tranvías Veracruz is downtown on Paseo del Malecón, across from the Emporio Veracruz Hotel. Although the narration for this guided tour is in Spanish, it nevertheless offers a good overview of the city. The 45-minute tour route covers 24 historical points of interest, including the Customs House, railroad station, the Teatro de la Reforma and Zamora Park (where an original tour trolley car that was pulled by horses is on display). In between the tour narrative passengers are serenaded by lilting Veracruzan music.
Wear a hat for sun protection; on hot days sitting in the lower level of the double-decker, open-air tour bus will be more comfortable. A red handkerchief identifies Tranvías tour buses. The Tranvías brochure contains a helpful city map.
