Rock of Ages Visitors Center is at 558 Graniteville Rd., following signs from I-89 exit 6. Guided tours of the 1880 quarry show the drilling, blasting and removal of granite from the 550-foot-deep, 50-acre hole carved out of the hillside over the last century. The company's manufacturing division operates one of the largest granite plants in the world; the plant can be seen on a self-guiding tour. The observation deck overlooks cutting, polishing and rubber-cutting operations. Visitors can engage in a hands-on sandblast activity mid-June to mid-October. Free bowling is available on the outdoor granite lane.
Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
