Goodsell Ridge Preserve Visitor Center/Museum is s. on Isle La Motte's Main Rd., e. on Quarry Rd., then n. at the T. Isle La Motte, the northernmost island in Lake Champlain, is the location of Fisk Quarry, a 450- to 480-million-year-old fossil reef known as the Chazy Reef. The 83-acre Goodsell Ridge Preserve is one of two sites protecting this ancient land. Exhibits and displays at the visitor center/museum, housed in an 1880s farmhouse, relate the history of the reef. Interpretive paths and walking trails are recreational options.
