Southern Vermont Natural History Museum is at 7599 SR 9. More than 600 birds and mammals indigenous to New England—including black bears, loons and owls—can be seen in more than 150 dioramas. Live amphibians and reptiles and a group of non-releasable American bald eagles, hawks and owls also can be viewed. The museum, at the summit of Hogback Mountain, provides scenic vistas that can encompass 100 miles.
