Vermont Institute of Natural Science is on SR 4, 3.5 mi. w. of I-89 exit 1 at 6565 Woodstock Rd. Located adjacent to scenic Quechee Gorge, this environmental learning center encompasses 47 acres inhabited by migratory songbirds, amphibians and other Vermont wildlife. Such raptors as owls, bald eagles, red-tailed hawks and peregrine falcons can be viewed in a series of outdoor enclosures. Educational programs allow visitors to get an up-close look at live raptors, and nature trails encourage exploration. The stroller- and wheelchair-friendly McKnight Trail winds through the lush woodlands for .25 miles. Picnicking is permitted.
