Justin Smith Morrill State Historic Site, in the center of Strafford Village at 214 Justin Smith Morrill Hwy., is a furnished Gothic Revival house built 1848-51 by Sen. Morrill, author of the Morrill Land Grant College Acts of 1862 and 1890. Exhibits featuring the Land Grant College Act and the Gothic Revival movement in 19th-century America are displayed in the carriage barn. Seven outbuildings as well as period gardens and plantings also are on the grounds.
