St. George Village Botanical Garden is 4 mi. (6 km) e. at 127 Estate St., just n. of Centerline Rd. This 16-acre (6-hectare) tropical garden surrounds the ruins of a 19th-century workers' village and restored buildings. Royal Poinciana trees burst into flamboyant bloom in summer; hibiscus unfold all year. Housed in a restored worker's cottage, a museum details the village's history through artifacts and photographs. A botanical library and the St. Croix Seashell Society Museum also are on the grounds.
