Pros: This hotel is well located, right on the free trolley line, making it easily accessible both to the UVA campus and the downtown Mall. The room was quiet and the breakfast well prepared and well managed.
Cons: The hotel seems like it's been around for awhile. Still serviceable but it's lost it's sparkle. The front desk crew was mixed -- one woman quite abrupt and several men more friendly.

Pros: The room was very comfortable, the bed was nice, the air conditioner worked well, the duvet felt nice. The closet was large enough for one person on a 1-week business trip.The all day coffee/tea/hot chocolate bar was nice and quite welcome (it included decaf as well).
Cons: The excercise room was too small, even at 6:00am you couldn't get the apparatus you wanted.
The iron couldn't get hot enough to get the wrinkles out completely.

Then couldn't get into rooms for a couple hours
That night had a fire alarm and sat outside for an hour at 4 am
Was overcharged based on that was on my contract - no compassion and no adjustment

Cons: On Feb. 7 we asked for a wake up call at 5:30 am on Feb. 8 because my wife had a procedure scheduled for 6:30 am we didn't recieved it and when I complained about it the man at the front desk didn't act concerned at all actually acted as if he didn't want to hear what I was saying . This may sound insignificant and could have caused us to have to reschedule and we live 2:30 hours away , we love Hampton and always use it and usually receive great service but this was not acceptable.

I could walk a few blocks to restaurants and bars.

Pros: Location and staff are excellent. The room itself was very good. Very comfortable bed and pillows. The kitchen facility in the room was excellent. Plenty of hot water!
Cons: The suite room was sparsely furnished and the furnishings themselves were merely adequate, not of the quality level I expected given the price.
Even though we were on the top floor, the view was of a parking garage and construction site. Not a huge problem (and the location itself was very convenient), just the state of contemporary Main Street over-development near UVA in Charlottesville.

Pros: We were visiting Charlottesville because we were visiting the University of Virginia and this hotel is very close, and easy to find. The room was very nice and clean. The staff was especially helpful when we were looking for someplace to eat dinner, and the shuttle driver was quick and courteous. We will definitely stay again!

Pros: I had such a great stay at the Hampton Inn. The staff is very friendly. The room was very comfortable. The location is perfect, a few blocks from the University. Everyone who works there is courteous, happy to give ideas, directions, or just to say hi in the morning. The breakfast is so much better than what is served at similar hotels. I will be back!
Cons: The only suggestion for improvement I would make is using non-disposable plates, cups, and silverware in the breakfast buffet. I would also like to have real cups and glasses rather than disposable in the rooms.
