Ralph Stanley Museum and Traditional Mountain Music Center is at 249 Main St. Both the career of Ralph Stanley, an American bluegrass musician, and the history of traditional mountain music are explored through relics and interactive exhibits. An 8-minute orientation film describes Stanley’s success as a singer and banjo player. Offering several galleries, the museum's displays detail Stanley’s bands—The Stanley Brothers and the Clinch Mountain Boys—as well as the evolution of bluegrass and country music. Rotating exhibits also are offered.
