Danville Science Center is at 677 Craghead St. Housed in two buildings which include an 1899 train station, the science center features interactive exhibits, the Womack Natural History Collection, a seasonal butterfly station and garden, events and touring displays, a computer lab and an early childhood gallery. With its 40-foot screen, the digital dome theater and planetarium showcases giant screen films that educate viewers about the wonders of nature and the universe.
Exhibits $7; $6 (ages 4-12 and 60+); free (ages 0-3 and active military with ID). Digital dome theater $6; $5 (ages 4-12 and 60+). Combination ticket $10; $9 (ages 4-12 and 60+).
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 9:30-5, Sun. 11:30-5, Memorial Day-Labor Day; Tues.-Sat. 9:30-5, Sun. 11:30-5, rest of year. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.
