Frying Pan Park is at 2709 West Ox Rd. Rural community history is preserved at this 130-acre park, which contains historic buildings; a carousel; a nature trail; and Kidwell Farm, a 1930s-era working farm. On-site are cows, sheep, goats, pigs, horses, chickens, rabbits, peacocks and a variety of antique farm equipment. Visitors also can learn more about the park's plants and animals on a 20-minute wagon ride. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
Park admission free. Fees are charged for wagon and carousel rides.
Hours: Grounds daily dawn-dusk (also Thurs. dusk-9 p.m., early June-late Aug. for free concert series). Visitor center Mon.-Sat. 9-4:30, Sun. noon-4:30. Kidwell Farm daily 9-5. Wagon rides are offered Mon.-Sat. 10-4, Sun. noon-4, Mar.-Nov.
