MacArthur Memorial is on City Hall Ave. Nine galleries in the former 1847 city hall portray Gen. Douglas MacArthur’s life and military career through displays of gifts, art objects, maps, murals, pictures, models and mementos. MacArthur’s trademark military cap, corncob pipe and sunglasses and his 1950 Chrysler Imperial limousine are among the relics. The general’s books and an extensive collection of correspondence, photographs, scrapbooks and newspapers are housed in a library and archives.
In the main rotunda, the tomb containing MacArthur and his wife is surrounded by inscriptions and flags from the general’s military career. A documentary is shown every 30 minutes.
